ABOUT ME In April of 2007 I started Fortier Business Solutions, a virtual support service providing project management and legal support to business owners, attorneys, financial planners, coaches, and other entrepreneurs who realized that partnering with a virtual professional is a step in the right direction.
I started my legal career at 16 in a small law firm in Oklahoma City, OK. There, I fell in love with the law and its “order”. After working in that law firm through high school and into college, I went on to college, attained my Organizational Management degree and continued my career as a legal assistant in Oklahoma City law firms. When I moved to Michigan in 1995, I continued in the legal field and eventually ended up supervising a litigation department of a large, national law firm.
While in my supervisory capacity, I had the opportunity to discover what really appealed to me - organizing, training & development, strategic planning - all within the legal support system. I streamlined operations, created processes that enabled work-flow to continue during any absence without having to hire temporary help, and also, with the help of the department, created processes for court filing systems. Creating this process reduced late filing fees by almost 40%.
Taking these abilities into the virtual world has been the next organic step in my career. In working with my clients with project management needs, I can work closely with them to organize and ensure that all details are taken care of, and all aspects of the project are closely monitored. I work with them and their staff in business planning & management, short- and long-term goal review and planning, continued personal and business development coaching.
MY CLIENTS consist of attorneys, financial planners, resume writers, graphic artists, coaches and real estate investors. They all bring unique qualities to their own businesses, and a relationship with each one of them has enriched me, too.
All new clients have weekly check-ins with me for the first 90 days, after which they are not obligated for those weekly check-ins any longer, but may continue if they chose. It gives us a time to make sure we're both on track with assignments and obligations for the coming week.
WHAT'S IN STORE FOR THE FUTURE In September 2008, I created
The Academy for Legal Virtual Assistance, which is a web-based training program designed to train virtual assistants to work virtually with attorneys, and to also train legal assistants who desire to work virtually with attorneys.
